How to Download Threads Videos
A complete walkthrough — from finding the post link inside the Threads app to saving the finished MP4 file on your device.
Step 1: Find the Post
Open the Threads app or threads.net in your browser and navigate to the public post containing the video you want. Make sure the account is public — private accounts can't be processed.
Step 2: Copy the Post Link
Tap the three-dot menu or the share icon on the post, then choose “Copy Link.” The link looks like:
https://www.threads.net/@username/post/XXXXXXXX
Step 3: Paste It Into the Downloader
Go to the Threads Video Downloader and paste the link into the input box, then click “Download Video.”
Step 4: Choose a Quality and Save
Once the preview loads, pick HD, SD, or Original (whichever is available for that post) and click the download button. The MP4 file saves to your device's default download location.
Finding “Copy Link” on Each Platform
| Platform | Where to find it |
|---|---|
| Desktop web (threads.net) | Hover the post, click the share icon, choose “Copy link” |
| iOS app | Tap the paper-plane share icon under the post, then “Copy link” from the share sheet |
| Android app | Tap the share icon under the post, then “Copy link” from the share menu |
The mobile apps sometimes copy a short /share/ or /t/ link instead of the full /@username/post/… URL — that's expected, and this tool handles both formats the same way.
Common Mistakes That Break a Download
Copying the profile link instead of the post link
A link like threads.net/@username points to the whole profile, not one post — there’s no specific video for the tool to find.
Pasting text instead of the URL
If you copy the caption text by mistake instead of using the share button, the link field will reject it as invalid.
Trying a post from a private account
If you can’t open the post in an incognito/private browser tab without logging in, the tool won’t be able to either — that’s by design.
Assuming every post has a video
Text-only and photo-only posts have nothing for a video downloader to extract; use the image downloader instead for photo posts.
